Airmen living in the dorms on Bolling AFB received a holiday surprise Dec. 18 from 11th Wing leadership and representatives from the Air Force Officers Wives Club.

Volunteers wanting to spread holiday cheer to Airmen went floor by-floor-and door-to-door in both the Honor Guard dorms and Blanchard Barracks. They handed out nearly 500 pounds of cookies to Airmen for the annual Commanders' Cookie Caper.

Col. Jon A. Roop, 11th Wing commander, and his wife Lori, helped hand out cookies along with Chief Master Sgt. Robin Johnson, 11th Wing command chief. Several other chiefs and first sergeants were on hand to help with the distribution of the cookies.

"We just want to make sure all the Airmen know we care about them and we want them to have a great holiday," said Mrs. Roop " seeing the Airmen's reactions was the best part, it was really heart warming for us."

There was a genuine reaction of shock by many Airmen. "It's not everyday that the Wing commander comes to your door handing out cookies," said Airman First Class Nick Muller, 744th Communications Squadron.

"I want to thank all the squadrons and volunteers who donated materials and time to make this possible," said Chief Johnson "It was great."
