The Air Force District of Washington Communications Directorate (A6) has provided AFDW a tool to manage tasks and enhance information technology capabilities for organizations and senior leadership within the command.

"The Task Management Tool is a capability we already had," said Vicky Gaston, AFDW communications technical director. "However, we upgraded. This new version provides a lot of additional capabilities."

TMT provides the ability to organize tasks, track suspenses, and process staffing - allowing staff to spend more time on the mission and less time managing tasks.

"Email integration is a feature of this TMT version," said Gaston.

Microsoft Outlook Email integration allows the task creation to work rapidly - with the click of a button TMT packages an e-mail, adds a tracking number, allows the initiator to include additional comments and a suspense date, and select the offices of primary and coordinating responsibilities.

With this tool, according to Gaston, U.S. Air Forces in Europe has said to save up to 60,000 manpower hours annually - a cost savings of more than $3 million.

Users will experience an easy-to-use environment with a familiar look and feel, as TMT interfaces with Outlook and SharePoint servers.

TMT is available to all "edge users" with an account, said Gaston. AFDW/A6 is working with knowledge operations to supply the software to all applicable employees.

Training is available online and hands-on through the 744th Communications Squadron.
