CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT THOMAS "TOMMY" B. MAZZONE

Chief Master Sergeant Tommy Mazzone is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), and, when activated, the 320th Air Expeditionary Wing, headquartered at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. He is the senior enlisted leader responsible to the commander on matters concerning the welfare, effective utilization, professional development and readiness of AFDW's Airmen. AFDW is the Air Force component to the Joint Forces Headquarters-National Capital Region and is responsible for organizing, training and equipping combat forces for aerospace expeditionary forces, homeland operations, civil support, national special security events and significant ceremonial events. AFDW provides major-command-level support to over 32,000 military and civilian Airmen worldwide.

Chief Mazzone enlisted in the Air Force September 28, 1990.  As a Security Specialist, he was a member of the F.E. Warren Air Force Base and Kunsan Air Base Emergency Services Teams.  The majority of his career has been spent in the special operations and contingency response communities.  As an Aircraft Loadmaster he is a Chief Enlisted Aviator with more than 2,700 flying hours aboard the C-130E and MC-130E Combat Talon.  Chief Mazzone is fluent on numerous fixed and rotary wing airframes, and holds a basic parachutist qualification.  He has held assignments in SAC, PACAF, AFSPC, AMC, AFSOC, USSOCOM, AFGSC, and has flown airlift, special operations, or helicopter refueling missions supporting Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, JOINT GUARD, RESOLUTE RESPONSE, ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
